Wilma Jean Blankenship

Cleveland, VA – Wilma Jean Blankenship went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Born June 3, 1933. She was the daughter of the late William Huffman and Nora Castle Huffman. She was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church. She loved reading, cooking, canning, tending to her flowers, visiting nursing homes, and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter: Janet Blankenship Hawkins; three brothers: Billy Jo Huffman, Paul Huffman and Dennis Huffman; grandson: Joshua Hawkins; and great-granddaughter: Stella Blankenship.

She is survived by her husband of seventy years: Jack Blankenship; son: Ron Blankenship and wife Denise; son-in-law: Gene Hawkins; grandchildren: Amanda Richardson and husband Jayson, Travis Blankenship and wife Erika, and Daniel Hawkins; great-grandchildren: Ava Kate Richardson, Lexi Hawkins, Hunter Hawkins, and Jacob Hawkins; along with several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2023 in the Combs-Hess Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Darrell Fletcher and Rev. Brandon Nuckles officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023 in Ketron Memorial Gardens. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the cemetery in the mausoleum by 10:45 a.m.

Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Blankenship, Jayson Richardson and Gene Hawkins.
