May 12, 1965 — October 10, 2024

Lebanon

Timothy Todd Hobson (59), of Lebanon VA went to his everlasting home on October 10, 2024, at Eastern Carolina University Medical Center.

Tim was a dedicated and loving husband to wife Rhonda, father to his children Eric and Tracy, Pappy to granddaughter Piper and grand dog Bo, friend, and confidant to many. Tim was noted as the youngest individual to ever umpire a Virginia State Baseball Tournament, which was one of his proudest accomplishments. Along with umpiring, camping with his loving wife, and fishing the riverbanks of Tennessee, Tim was passionate about serving the community of Big Stone Gap, Va & Russell County, Va. Tim retired from the Russell County Sheriff’s Office in 2014, serving a total of 28 years as a well-beloved officer and Sergeant. He then gathered monthly with other retirees from Russell County to share memories and a meal. Tim was also called by God to preach the Gospel. Through the years, Tim traveled to many areas in Southwest Virginia to preach the word of God, uniting people in holy matrimony, as in well as preaching over those who went to their Heavenly Home. He was the beloved Pastor of New Castlewood Baptist Church in Castlewood, Va for many years & also attended Maple Grove Community Church in Lebanon, Va to listen to his brother, Donnie, and many others deliver the Word of God. Tim was loved and adored by so many.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents Donald G. and Elizabeth Ann Hobson, his maternal grandparents, John Harvey and Irene Breeding, his paternal grandparents James Hobson and Golden Peyton, and his mother-in-law Velma Griffith.

Tim is survived by his loving wife Rhonda of 37 years of Lebanon Va, two children, Eric Hobson (Fiancée April) of Lebanon, Va, & Tracy Taylor (Husband Ethan) of Dandridge, Tn.; one granddaughter, Piper Hobson, one Brother Donnie (Wife Cheryl) of Lebanon, VA.; one Sister Darlia of Lebanon, VA.; his best friend and Brother-in-law, Chris and Wife Dorothy of Lebanon, VA.; one sister-in-law Velina of Lebanon, VA.; his fur babies, Molly, Kal, and Maui; one grand dog Bo, two special nephews that he loved playing Star Wars every Sunday afternoon, John Abrom and Jacob Lee, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend the upmost gratitude to the skilled physicians and highly trained nursing staff at Outer Banks Health Hospital and Eastern Carolina University Medical Center for the quality of care they provided to Tim during his final days.
