Rebecca Josephine Wallace

Lebanon, VA – Rebecca Josephine Wallace, age 94, passed away July 24, 2023 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Abingdon. Rebecca was born December 25, 1928 to the late Howard and Lucy Wallace. Rebecca graduated from Cleveland High School and pursued a career in Home Economics. She later got her degree from Radford University and her master’s degree from Virginia Tech. She taught home economics for many years in several different high schools. Rebecca was a perfectionist in sewing and made many a bride’s wedding gown for their special day. She loved to go to church and attend Nash’s Ford until her health declined.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers: William Wallace and wife Fannie Ellen, Dan Wallace and wife Margaret.

She is survived by one nephew: Tim Wallace and wife Jackie; one niece: Kathy Keys and husband Kenny; two great-nephews: Mike Keys and wife Tina, Bobby Keys and wife Bridget; two great-nieces: Katherine Wallace and Linsdey Kegley and husband Seth; great-great nephews: Tanner Keys, Clark Kegley and Whitaker Kegley; great-great nieces: Madison Keys and Shelby Keys.

Thank you to the workers at Commonwealth Senior Living for the great care Rebecca was given there. Thank you to Cleveland Lifesaving Crew for the numerous trips you have transported Rebecca to and from the hospital and nursing home.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2023, in the Combs-Hess Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Larry Stinson and Rev. Darrell Harmon officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service in Russell Memorial Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
