Dr. Norman Leon Rexrode Jr. passed away on July 10, 2024, in Johnson City Medical Center at the age of 72.
He was born on March 16, 1952, in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Hicle and Norman Rexrode Sr. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by Wayne Butcher.
He was a loving husband and partner of 50 years to Jamie Murphy Rexrode. Loving father of daughter Lara, son Noah, and daughter in love, Ashley. He is also survived by sisters Barbara Williams and husband Fred, Jane Jones and husband Mark, and Susan Butcher; nieces and nephews, Mike, Keri Jo, Jonathan, Emily, and several great nieces and nephews; as well as special friends, Charles, Sharon, Greta, Maxie, Sherman, and Jim; as well as all of the future EMS workers, doctors, nurses, band kids, teachers, and all of the other people he mentored and worked alongside.
After graduating WVU Medical School, he practiced medicine for 42 years and taught paramedic classes at SVCC and VHCC for two years.
Having a faithful servant’s heart, he supported EMS by volunteering his services as OMD for SWVA Emergency Services. As a member of Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church, he practiced his faith by being a caring friend and showing respect to everyone he met.

Funeral Services will be conducted 2pm Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Tallent. Burial will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 pm Friday, July 12, 2024, at the church. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
