Mollie Ruffner Funk Carper

Mollie Ruffner Funk Carper, originally from Strasburg, Virginia, passed away January 28, 2025 at Russell County Hospital.

Mollie was born January 21, 1937 in Strasburg, daughter of the late Arthur E. and Dorothy “Dot” Artz Ruffner. She was a seamstress for various sewing factories throughout the Shenandoah Valley and continued sewing after her retirement doing alterations for friends and family. She found great pleasure in taking “goodie bags” to all the children at her church and calling Bingo on Monday mornings at McDonald’s.

Surviving are her sons, Arthur “Frankie” Funk (South Boston, Va) and John “Eddie” Carper (Tina) (Rosedale, Va.), four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Per her request there will be no memorial services, but memorial contributions can be made to the Meadow Mills Church of the Brethren, 488 Meadow Mills Road, Middletown, Va. 22645.
