Bristol, VA – Katherine Mae Wilson Arrington, of Bristol, Virginia, formerly of Cleveland, Virginia, passed away July 26, 2023 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Abingdon, Virginia.
Katherine was born in Keystone, West Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Roscoe Wilson and Cara Skeens Hall. Katherine was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred P. Arrington; her son, Kenneth Arrington; and special friends, Ann Campbell, Lillian Grizzle, and Nina Wise.
Katherine was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church in Castlewood, Virginia, and a current member of New Grace Baptist Church in Bristol, Tennessee.
Katherine enjoyed cooking, crocheting, singing in the church choir and spending time with her family and friends.
Fred and Katherine were blessed with the opportunity to travel the world with some of Katherine’s fondest memories being of their trip to the Holy Land and their many trips to the islands of Hawaii.
Katherine is survived by two sons, Freddie Arrington and wife Ronna, Robert Arrington and wife Denise; three daughters, Gail Barker and husband David, Kathy Monk and husband William, Loretta Evans and husband Russell; eleven grandchildren, Chris Arrington and Melanie, Jon Arrington, Chelsea Fletcher and husband Chris, Kelly Taylor and husband Stuart, Bethany Barker, Jason Monk and wife Kaitlin, Travis Monk and wife Priscilla, Nathan Evans and wife Jordan, Rachel Dix and husband Jared, Morgan Arrington and Bryan Arrington; twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Wilson and Jerry Wilson; two sisters, Pauline Jackson and Susie Hill.
The family extends a special thank you to Sheila Hall, Katherine’s caregiver at home, Dr. James Schrenker, all the special neighbors in her community that looked out for her and became her close friends and to all the staff and care takers at Commonwealth Senior Living in Abingdon, Virginia, who took such good care of our Mother.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023, in the Combs-Hess Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Sam Haynes and Rev. Travis Price officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service in Temple Hill Memorial Park. The funeral services will be livestreamed on the Combs-Hess Funeral Service Facebook Page.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Katherine’s memory to New Grace Baptist Church, Bristol, Tennessee, Calvary Baptist Church, Castlewood, Virginia, or the American Cancer Society.
