Judy Ann Hubbard, age 71, of Lebanon, Virginia passed away on November 9, 2024, at her home following a long illness.
Judy was born on April 22, 1953, to Beulah Grubb and Ransom Mays in Norton, Virginia. She was a 1971 graduate of Castlewood High School. She worked as a clerk for the telephone company before becoming a full-time homemaker, which remained her vocation until her youngest child left home. She resumed work as a clerk for Verizon until her retirement in 2015.
She was a loving wife and devoted mother who could always be found supporting her children and their friends at various competitions and activities. She found great joy in the countless hours she spent cheering, driving, feeding, teaching, and otherwise serving those she loved.
She attended Green Valley Baptist Church in Lebanon, VA. She was a voracious reader with an outgoing personality and a love for conversation. She possessed a wealth of botanical knowledge that made her a wonderful gardener. The beautiful flowers she cultivated around her home have been enjoyed by many. She had a lifelong love of art and was a Cave House Craft Shop artisan for several years.
Judy is survived by Bill Hubbard, her husband of 41 years; her son and daughter-in-law, Bryan Hubbard and Jo Alice Van Nagell of Lexington, KY; her son and daughter-in-law Matthew and Sheena Hubbard of Abingdon, VA; her daughter and son-in-law Shelley and Rodney Stout of Belfast, VA; granddaughters Olivia, Aubrey, Lauryl, Evelyn, and Innogen; grandsons Jordan, Jack, Basil, Alexander, and Charles; and numerous cousins who were as close to her as siblings.
A funeral will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in the Combs-Hess Funeral and Cremation Service Chapel with the Pastor Michael Switzer officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens in Cedar Bluff, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Tuesday November 12, 2024 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers include Wayne Lucas, Michael Lucas, Andrew Hall, Freddy Wallace, Mark Willis, Jacob Willis, Roger Davis, Jason Mullins, and James Mullins.
