JoAnn Matney

Lebanon, VA – JoAnn Matney, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 3, 2022. Born March 31, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Maybell Estep. JoAnn was born in Hurley, VA and made her home in Abingdon, VA for the last forty years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Henry William Matney; grandson: Eddie Ray Matney, Jr.; sisters: Audrey Griffey, Ruby Lester, Madge Cowan, Juanita Estep; and brothers: Edd Estep; Charles Estep, Bobby Estep.

Survivors include her daughters: Teresa Hensley and husband James of Bristol, VA, Connie Fuller and husband Rick of Vansant, VA; son: Eddie Matney and wife Melody of Abingdon, VA; sisters: Pauline Chamberlain of Abingdon, VA, Lucille Phillips and husband David of Abingdon, VA; brothers: Donald Estep and wife Ruth of Hurley, VA, Jackie Estep and wife Brenda of Abingdon, VA; grandchildren: Tiffany Matney of Abingdon, VA, Jonathan Matney and Santana of Johnson City, TN, Kenny Newberry and wife Hannah of Highlands Ranch, CO; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022 in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor David Gibson officiating. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 p.m.
