Helen Clair Fuller Kiser

Helen Clair Fuller Kiser, 103, slipped away to heaven from Abingdon Health and Rehab on Friday, August 16, 2024.

She was born on April 7, 1921, the daughter of the late William Henry and Virginia Williams Fuller, and lived her entire life in the Spring City Community which she loved.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Judson Kiser, infant son Larry Ronald Kiser, grandson Garrod Miller, sister Mildred Fuller, brother George Fuller, and foster brother Porter Johnson.

Survivors include her daughter Gwen Zachwieja and husband Alex, her granddaughter Lacey Miller Parker and husband Kevin, and her great-granddaughters Reagan, Hadley, and Madeline Parker, brother-in-law Ralph Kiser and sisters-in-law Sue Kiser and Dorothy Kiser, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind special friends Verna Barton, Nola Honaker, Louise Hubbard, Diane Stoots, Jan Nichols, Cathy Hughes, Helen Owens and her beloved caregiver, Kim Puckett.

Helen was a 1939 graduate of Lebanon High School and a 1941 graduate of West Virginia Business College. She was employed at the agriculture office in the 40s, Selective Service in the 60s, and VPI Extension Office in the 70s.

She was a member of Spring City Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. As long as she was able, she enjoyed attending church, reading her Bible, and sending cards and letters of encouragement. Helen sincerely loved people and was happiest when helping them.

Thank you to the staff at Abingdon Health and Rehab who cared for her during her last month following hip surgery.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Brown, Richard Hughes, Jr. Nichols, Randy Stinson, Rick Thompson, Eddie Wallace, Scotty Kiser, Jim Kiser, Greg Kiser, and L.D. Barton. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Sellner, Rick Mclntyre, Larry Miller, and George Honaker.

A celebration of Helen’s long life, well-lived will be held at the Combs-Hess Funeral Service Chapel at 6:30pm Tuesday August 20, 2024, conducted by Rev. Nathan Brown, Randy Williams, Richard Hughes, and Rev. Darrell Fletcher. The family will receive friends from 2:30pm until 6:30pm prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at 11:00am Wednesday August 21, 2024, at Ketron Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to attend are requested to meet at the mausoleum by 10:45am.
